My Top Ten Lipstick Shades For National Lipstick Day

IMG_0592Today is National Lipstick Day, which means it’s the perfect day to break out that super daring neon orange you’re slightly intimated by and/or go out and treat yourself to a ridiculously indulgent new lippie. Since I did the latter this past weekend (welcome to the collection, Tom Ford. Read more about it below, see above) I thought I would make a quick little list of the top ten lipsticks in my makeup bag. This is in no real order – they’re just a few of the shades I really adore from my ever-growing collection.

  1. ‘Indian Rose’ by Tom Ford:  The most recent addition comes with a pretty hefty price tag but it’s a seriously gorgeous dusty rose shade that looks slightly mauve on the lips. This is a great MLBB shade on me and the formula just feels so amazing on the lips.
  2. ‘Fiery’ by Tarte: This  Lipsurgence crayon is pretty much my go-to red. Application is incredibly easy, which puts it head and shoulders above my other reds. It’s moisturizing so I never have to worry about chapped or flaky lips when I wear this.
  3. ‘Cha Cha Tint’ by Benefit: This is not a lipstick, it’s a stain that can also be used on the cheeks. I prefer using to give my lips a really bright pop of orange/red, though. It has a super flat finish, which I love.
  4. ‘Vesuvio’ by Nars: This was actually the first red lipstick I ever bought. I love the matte finish, the staying power and the intensity of this color.
  5. ‘Montego Bay’ by Nars: Super subtle and pretty. This is a coral-toned pink that also works as a great everyday MLBB for me. It really brightens my face up, the only downside is that I have to use a lot to get it to show. I actually wore this one out a few months ago.
  6. ‘Girl About Town’ by MAC: I love this super vibrant fuchsia. It’s sort of a cult favorite and with good reason. I’m sensitive to something in the formula so I haven’t used this in a long time but the color is stunning.
  7. ‘Clementine’ by Bite Beauty: I use this crayon for day a lot. It’s really pigmented and the waxy formula is so comfortable to wear. Sadly this has been discontinued.
  8. ‘Clueless’ by Topshop: A great bright pink for anyone who is a little reluctant to take the plunge and wear something completely neon. This doesn’t seem to be available anymore, unfortunately.
  9. ‘Rouge Laque’ by YSL: When I want something that’s both bright and glossy (which is rare) I reach for this shade. It’s super bright and long-lasting, which I love.
  10. Enchanted’ by Tarte: This is such a pretty rose shade. I like to use it when I want something a little bit dark but less intense than a full-on red lip. It’s one of those shades you just throw into your bag because you know it’ll always come in handy when you need a little color.
