I’ve only been running STATEMENT/scene for a few months but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: The blogging community is one of the most wonderfully supportive groups I’ve ever entered. Its a testament to the power of social media and the open-heartedness of the people in this community.  It’s always wonderful to see bloggers rally in support of one of our own.

Today I want to dedicate a post to another blogger: Jacqui of Baby Boy Bakery. I’ve never met Jacqui - I’d never even heard her name up until a few days ago – but her story reached me after I read a blog post asking others to send thoughts, prayers and love her way.

Last Friday, Jacqui’s son, Ryan, was struck by a truck while playing frisbee with his family. He was only three years old and was killed on the spot.

I can’t even imagine what this woman and her husband are going through right now. It’s nothing short of heartbreaking and while there isn’t anything anyone can do or say to make it easier for them, I believe that good wishes are never wasted. I’d like to ask you all to take a minute out of your day to think of Ryan Saldana. He was such a beautiful little boy.

If you feel compelled to donate to Ryan’s family, head here. If you’d like to honor Ryan, release a red balloon or just wear red this coming Friday.
